La Suite West – London

LA SUITE WEST

For our two days in London, we wanted to find accommodation that was central and allowed us easy access to popular attractions.  Given that we were travelling few weeks before Christmas, we definitely wanted to explore the infamous Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

While researching we found that central London was sprinkled with cozy boutique hotels which offered most bang for our buck in comparison to globally famous chains.  This is where we came across La Suite West.  It was nestled just outside of central London helping reduce the cost but close to public transport which allowed us easy access to see everything on our “must-see” attraction list.

CHECK-IN

The check in process was easy. We had informed the reception of our early arrival and they had our room ready at our requested time. This was a blessing for us, as we had a long 10 hours flight from Bangkok. An early check-in allowed us to take a quick nap and shower to be ready for exploring the city in the afternoon. Even though our room was located on the main floor, a bellboy was really nice to bring all our luggage to our room and explained where everything was in the room.

OUR ROOM

Our Deluxe One Bedroom was located on the main floor. The room like the hotel had a black and white contemporary interior design. The four poster bed was comfortable with a large hidden retractable 32inch television. The room also came with lots of basic amenities which included complimentary tea, coffee, two water bottles, robe, iron, hair dryer, room slippers and a number-code lock safe.

The feature we loved about our room was the ultra-modern all-white marble bathroom with a wide sink, deep bathtub and heated marble floors…… YES!!! You read that right….HEATED MARBLE FLOORS.  This was an amazing feature and we really noticed the difference when we had checked into our airport hotel in London.

HAPPY BELLY

We always love a hotel which can include a breakfast with their stay. The on-site breakfast gave us the luxury to wake up and have a hot meal without having to go out hunting for a meal early in the morning after a late night in the city. Our room came included with a continental breakfast which had the option of ordering from the a la carte menu and the breakfast buffet option.

The breakfast buffet included fresh baguettes, soft pastries, cheeses and meats with unlimited coffee, tea and juices. From the A la carte we could each order one main dish which had several hot options of omletts, a big American breakfast and eggs benedict’s.

The wait time was a tad bit long, but this was due to some issues they were having in the kitchen. However, when the food came it was delicious and flavourful. We would definitely recommend eating here if you are not morning people like us and would rather just eat in the comfort of your hotel room.

TECH ALERT

La Suite West had one of the most amazing gadget we had ever seen or gotten during our travels to date. Our room came with something called “Handy”. This was a smart phone loaded with data, which we were allowed to carry with us to explore London without having to worry about getting a data sim. This was definitely “Handy” for us international travellers as we were able to use this to navigate without getting lost. The phone also allowed make local and international calls to selected countries which helped us make dinner reservations and connect with family back home – I think all hotels should definitely have this feature…it would be a great selling point to many tourists.

LOCATION

The hotel is located approximately 45 minutes away from Gatwick Airport and 35 minutes from Heathrow. During rush hour, it took us a little over an hour to get from Heathrow Airport. Once here, it was easy to get around as the hotel is located very close (2 minutes’ walk) to two tube stations on three Underground lines: Bayswater on Circle and District; Queensway on Central.

Other attractions that are walkable from La Suite west were the Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Convent Garden and the Charles Dickens Museum. If you are up for longer walks, The Buckingham Palace and The Westminster Abbey are approximately 25-30 minutes away.

OUR VERDICT

The combination of excellent technology and minimalist design makes La Suite West the perfect spot to stay for travellers wanting to explore London.
